Ao3 wrapped 2025.
Dec. 29th, 2025 10:07 amHow many words have you written this year?
261k which is slightly down from last year but doesn't include my last longish OW which is 30k and which I might get up by 31st. I think I wrote significantly less fic this year, but more longish (20-30k words) OW so the number is similar to last year. I think at times I was kind of burnt out on writing such long stories, because the spark of joy one feels when finishing a story just wasn't happening.
How many works did you publish this year?
38, about to be 39 if I get one of my WIPs done by the end of the year.
What work are you most proud of (regardless of kudos/hits)?
Let me fly out of this world, a Moonlighting casefic. I honestly think I did a great job with this, considering I don't have a wealth of experience writing casefic. The case has twists and turns, I liked the dimension travel AU setting and the dialogue, which is always the most important thing IMO about Moonlighting fic, I think I got right.
With that said, it's a dead-ish old fandom, so I will pat myself on the back for this one.
For OW, one of my favorites to re-read myself is How people find one another, a m/m/m sexy kidnapping/captivity story with three TERRIBLE characters who deserve each other so deeply. I absolutely loved Rory's twisted, woe-is-me perspective and the unraveling of him and how the crooks who kidnapped him wind up handling the situation, with plenty of rough sex and tender words. I also allowed myself some semi stream of consciousness writing, which was very freeing. I don't often experiment with style these days, and I think people don't necessary love it when I do, but it's fun to try occasionally.
What work of yours has the most hits?
Gals being pals a Heated Rivalry feminization fic. It also has the most kudos.
What work of yours got more feedback than you expected?
Call it in the ring, a 9-1-1: Lone Star wrestling AU. I suppose Lone Star is the sort of active, yet dwindling fandom where people, especially TK/Carlos shippers, are hungry for new content and willing to give weird premises a go. I'm very happy they did, because usually my wrestling AU fics get absolute crickets. I understand it's a niche interest, but I've been into wrestling for 15+ years on and off, and it's always a fun AU premise to play around in.
I think in terms of writing, this was not my strongest fic in the fandom, because it was longer and I only edited it once, but I'm still so proud of it for the ideas I came up with.
Favorite title you used
Log off babygirl. It was such a perfect late minute title that captures everything. Archer does need to log off. He is also babygirl. It just says everything essential about the story. I'm so proud of it!
If you use song lyrics, which artist’s songs did you pull from the most?
I did use song lyrics but I don't think I used a single artist twice, which is weird. My favorite song lyric title was TK/Carlos story This is so unlike us (but I like us), which is from Jasmine by Daniel Levi, an American-Estonian artist who sounds like he should be an international sensation but only gets played on Estonian radio.
Pairing you wrote the most for this year?
Carlos Reyes/TK Strand (5)
Shane Hollander/Ilya Rozanov (5)
Dead heat between the two canon m/m pairings. Original M/M pairings would have won with 9 fics, but I consider all those separate pairings in my head since they're not of the same characters.
I was on parental leave the beginning of the year and had time to passively watch a show in the background, which is what Lone Star was perfect for. TK is such a fave, but I don't think I could sustain that kind of fic writing enthusiasm for a show I basically consumed four seasons of in a month. Tarlos is also a perfect pairing for a show like that, but they're also very fluffy and I wanted more conflict and edges to keep playing around with. With that said, what a fun pairing.
Shane and Ilya I've loved since I read the book in 2023. I can't believe the show turned out as good and well-acted as it was.
Favorite pairing you wrote for this year?
I have such a soft spot for my Moonlighting fics and David/Maddie, even though it's a dead fandom. I rewatched the show and maintain that it's not will-they-won't-they that's the problem, it's the very unique circumstances this show found itself in that tanked it. David/Maddie was so good in the first seasons and I love exploring their zany, snappy connection. I'm so proud of the smut I wrote for them, because I am pretty confident in my het smut now, and that's not something I would have said just two years back. (For that I suppose I have to thank Gabi/Sir, the most fucky het pairing I've loved in a while.)
What work was the quickest to write?
Gals being pals took me a lunch break, a very slow hour of work, maybe an hour of editing in the evening and posted. The high amount of kudos probably is at least in part result of writing the right kink and posting at the right time.
What work took you the longest to write?
Watering plastic plants, the m/m OW with mpreg, manipulation and marriage of convenience. I got the idea for it in April was swamped with other projects so I allowed it to simmer, wrote the beginning in May, kept writing throughout the summer and finally posted at the end of July. Even though the story took a different turn in writing, I still really love these characters. Their dynamic is so iddy to me.
How many WIP’s do you have in your docs for next year?
Two. One het Bridgerton smutfic and one OW pinch hit.
What’s your longest work of the year?
Watering plastic plants at 26k. I wrote a lot of 15-25k stories, and I think those lead to burn out.
What’s your shortest work of the year?
on his knees, an Ace Attorney Mia/Godot smutfic that was a treat in an exchange, so I wanted to challenge myself to actually write short. I'm not sure I'm great at writing very, very short fics, though.
What WIP are you taking into next year with you?
I'm working on a longish pinch hit that's OW, that's all I can say.
What’s your most common “Additional Tags” tag?
Dirty Talk (11)
Oral Sex (5)
Plot What Plot/Porn Without Plot (5)
Look, man, I like what I like.
Your favorite character to write this year?
Shane Hollander for fanfic. Probably Archer from Log off babygirl for Ow. His denial about his sexuality, the way it twists his thinking, his lack of ability to discuss his emotions was all so interesting to write.
The character that gave you the most trouble writing this year?
I'm not sure I struggled with any one character. Ilya's dialogue is tough, and I think finding the correct balance for Ali's shades of grey in Watering plastic plants was tough, but I other than that, I don't remember any significant struggles.
What’s one pairing you want to explore next year?
I don't know! I loved Heated Rivalry obviously, but I'm short on ideas now that the initial rush of the show is waning. For OW I'd love to write more duplicitous, terrible characters who lie a bunch, but I'd need the right idea for it. I'd love to write more f/f and het, but I'm extremely picky about shipping het and even more particular about f/f that appeals to me. I do have one OW f/f draft which I could pick up again and revive.
Which work of yours have you reread the most?
Probably Log off babygirl. Two years in a row my
iddyiddybangbang fic is my most re-read and beloved in many ways. I always view that event as writing an exchange gift for myself and it's really very joyous.
How many kudos in total did you get this year?
4,018 - off the back of those Heated Rivalry fics I'm sure. But I've been very lucky in that it seems every week one new reader goes and gives kudos to most of my OW back catalogue.
Which work has the most comments?
Log off babygirl again. Blessed!
Did you do any collaborative works this year?
No. Someone write a fic with me!
Did you write any gifts this year?
Yes. I did Candy Hearts, Smut4Smut, Casefic Exchange, Classic Film Exchange, Original Works Opportunity and FIAB. My favorites were the casefic as previously mentioned and the works I wrote for OWO: It tastes like you, fluffy m/m baking dudebro, Get back to the old days, historical f/m caper and An oak stood still by the marshes, a faux historical slavefic m/m with Finno-Ugric worldbuilding.
I suppose my FIAB fic was also well-received: Okay but this is the last time, m/m closeted actor/out actor paired together onscreen OW story. I really had fun with this one!
Did you receive any gifts this year?
Yes, probably too many to list here. My FIAB gift Blackthorne was absolutely inspired m/f OW with the pairing Pirate Captain Trying to Be A Gentleman/Young Maiden Wanting to be Ravished By a Pirate. For Candy Hearts I got an excellent Armadale fic by MildredMost: Pedgift's Remedy
I also got gifted podfic of my own fic from OWO last year, which is always lovely, because that fic was perfect for podfic, being all dialogue.
What’s your most common category?
M/M with 28 fics.
What do you listen to while writing?
I used to have a writing playlist of instrumental music, but nowadays I prefer silence.
Favorite work you wrote this year?
I've already mentioned How people find one another and Log off babygirl. Last year my clear favorite was If it was her, because Dale/Merle was such a great dynamic I will cherish forever, but this year I really loved so many of my stories. Maybe I'll have to go with Log off babygirl, but it's so close between that, Watering plastic plants and How people find one another.
Favorite line/passage you wrote this year?
Twisted logic from Alex in To hold a bare heart in hand (Dudebro Who Insists It's Not Gay/His Friend Who Agrees to Have Sex With Him, M/M OW):
I love him, your honor.
Biggest surprise while writing this year?
I think even though I wasn't super-focused on any fandom in particular this year, and I doubt that will change, I still managed to write a wide breadth of canons this year. My brain is pretty stuck on original fic and ideas, and I'm trying to follow each fanfic idea when it arrives, but I do confess I get more tickled by original ideas these days.

Twisted logic from Alex in To hold a bare heart in hand (Dudebro Who Insists It's Not Gay/His Friend Who Agrees to Have Sex With Him, M/M OW):
Blake is not gay, that's the fucking crux of it. Just like Alex isn't gay. Just because they did what they did together, that isn't a reflection on them. Blake shouldn't be drawing the false conclusion that it actually means something.
Only the more furious silence Alex gets from Blake, the more he starts to wonder if it did mean something. Maybe it was more meaningful to Blake than it was to himself, and that's why Blake has convinced himself he's totally gay.
It's so fucked up. Blake is maybe in love with Alex. He sits with that realization for a moment. He feels terrible and elated at the same time. He made Blake gay, like what the fuck.
He's a horrible person and he's never been more determined to fix it.
Maybe Blake is only in love with him and if he gets together with Alex he can be cured. Like he can get Alex, get what he wants and stop thinking he's gay for other people, because he isn't. Alex can stay with him and help him not be gay. They can still hook up, because it won't count.
Alex runs a hand through his hair. Okay, yeah, that sounds like a good plan. Of course he'd have to keep it a secret, but him and Blake are good at secrets. It's not a big deal. Maybe they can eventually both find chicks to marry and they'll still be bros and it will be so normal. Blake being in love with him is just a blip on the radar.
I love him, your honor.

Good luck with all your writing for this coming year!
(also, hi, I'm subscribing to you here on DW - not sure if you're very active here, but as one of the people who discovered your OW back catalogue this year and is still enjoying going through it, it's nice to see you!)
