I'd love regular fic of this, because it's such a juicy pairing, but if you're so inclined, I did write a version of this last year and am very open to recursive fic of my own version, No harm in asking

The format of that fic is a reddit post, so it leaves a lot to explore in terms of perspectives (what does Ryan think of all this, how does the sister come up with this ludicrous plan, what do their lives look like after the ending?). You could play around with additional formats, such as text messages, or just write more traditional 3rd person POV fic.

If you don't take the recursive route, I love that this combines the dating bet trope and the fake relationship trope AND internalized homophobia, which I find really interesting to read explored in fic. I think it pairs so well with friends-to-lovers or mutual pining, and obliviousness, when one character's repression of their own sexuality collides with their feelings for the other character. It's just so interesting and I'd love to see where one can take it.

There were three fics with this pairing last year, but I honestly think it's an ever-green scenario with tons of ground left to cover. How did they end up here? Did they know each other already, or are they strangers to one another? Were there feelings between them before?

If you want to write recursive fic of my own story, I wrote a version of this three years ago, Dreamed to finally say such things than only to pretend (which also has a brilliant podfic version by DontStopHerNow.

The format of that story is an online advice column, which I'm a huge fan of, but it means that the perspective of the story is limited to that of the himbo Carter. How does his not-boyfriend feel about all this? Was he as clueless or did he plan on taking the game further with each step? What does their not-gay marriage-of-total-convenience work out? Feel free to come up with names for these characters since the story uses fake names. I always imagined their real names would also begin with C and T, but I didn't come up with canonical real names for them in my head.

Also feel free to just write porn, either recursive or not. I'd be very open to it. The prompt is so ridiculous and also charming, I love the "no homo" plausible deniability so much. This could also pair well with (consensual) feminization if that's your thing (it's very much my thing).

I could also see a less E-rated version of this where things escalate romantically, but there's no on-the-page explicit sex. I love the manly pride of characters to do stupid things just to "win" and the baked in denial and I'd honestly love to see different formats for this prompt as well.

I nominated this! I just love the idea of one character being horny at a menacing, scary situation and the other one determined to keep it non-sexual, and largely non-menacing. I also love horny virgins, and I imagine the young maiden is inexperienced on that front. But maybe she's read about sexy pirates, she's read tons of pirate romance and she's read very horny descriptions of the bad things pirates do to young women they kidnap, and she's into it. This could be taken to a very PG sweet route where the pirate stays a gentleman and they fall in love. Or you could take it to CNC territory, or even her deciding enough is enough and demands that she be sexed up.

The character dynamic was inspired by a romance novel where a gentleman was posing as a pirate, but I found it not horny or piratey enough, and wondered what it might be like if the pirate acts like a gentleman, perhaps adopting that kind of higher register of speech and politeness, but the woman he has kidnapped (maybe intentionally, maybe inadvertently, maybe intentionally but regrets it now) has dubcon ravishment fantasies adopted from romance novels and such in her head.

This could also take an alternative format of being an account of the encounter in the form of diary entries or letters, or maybe even told as a historical tale, or discovered in the form of historical documents. I'm open to that kind of experimentation.
